New Beginnings

2016 is ending in a few days. It's been one hell of a year. I think it flew by too fast and yet its exit can't get any slower. As much as I want it to end, I'm also afraid of what lies ahead in the future. Anyway, despite my mixed feelings about this year, not everything is terrible. For example, Morning Light opened a branch that's easily accessible for me and my friends, and we were pleasantly surprised to find something else in their new place!

Please excuse the quality of the photos taken with my phone. I couldn't dare bring a proper camera when I'm commuting, and I didn't think we would be staying for long anyway. We do intend to return soon, so I hope I'll be able to take my DSLR with me then!

I've written about Morning Light before and I've also lamented over the lack of suitable places for art dates. It seems that someone has been listening to our prayers because it turns out that Morning Light's Quirino branch is not only more spacious than the one in Marfori, it is also much more accessible. That's pretty dangerous for everyone's wallets, but at least I don't have to worry about how to get there when I run out of sketchbook pages.

However, I think the best thing about the Quirino branch is their second floor: a space for artists to hang out and draw! It's perfect for art dates and I can't wait for when they finally get their kitchen set up. My friend and I got very excited when we were told about the second floor. There was no way that the owner could have missed the way our faces lit up.

The tables are very stable and there are boxes of paper on every table too in case you didn't bring your own. They didn't have food and drinks yet, so it's a little awkward to hang out here for now. But definitely, definitely we are so pleased that this kind of place exists and is easily accessible for us. Finally we no longer have to stay at the food court or make do with tiny cafe tables.

Another relatively new place is BakeWorld's new location. As can be assumed from their name, BakeWorld is a store that carries baking ingredients and tools, from food coloring to piping bags to fancy packaging for your baked goods. The new place is not too far from its old store, but it's now a lot neater and bigger so it's easier to move around in. Last time I visited BakeWorld, they were still in their previous location and it was a little too cramped.

I didn't get anything from here today, but this is where I got stuff for when I made cupcakes for my aunt's birthday earlier this year. For sure this isn't going to be the last time I visit this place.

And those are basically the most exciting things that have happened to me recently, if fandom-related happenings are not counted. I feel like no matter how hard I try to pretend that I'm an interesting person that leads an interesting life, this is blog (and the things I write on it) is a testament to how utterly boring I truly am.

In other news: Since it's already December, it's time for another art summary post, right? The month only just began and I haven't really drawn much so I still don't have anything to show for December, but I've been working on it and I'm hoping to post it soon. Unlike 2016, my art journey is only in its infancy. I'm thinking probably it'll never grow into adulthood. Even so, that means every day is a new beginning and there's something new to learn. Just because it's the end of the year doesn't mean I'll stop pushing forward.

Let's all keep working hard!
